Welcome Alisal Bears!
I am so excited about all the amazing things that are going on at Alisal. It’s been a pleasure for me to work closely with our PTA and amazing teacher and classified teams. I am so happy to be able to share with you some of these wonderful things.
Firstly, Alisal has instituted the ROAR program to provide students with a consistent system to teach appropriate behavior expectations. ROAR is an acronym which stands for Respect, Ownership, Awareness and Responsibility. ROAR is a guideline for appropriate behavior on campus throughout all areas like the bathrooms, playground, hallways and, of course, their classrooms. By having a common language and a common set of expectations, students and adults on Alisal’s campus can all work together to model, teach and reinforce the behaviors we want to see on campus.
Secondly, I would like to introduce you to RtI. RtI stands for Response to Intervention. Our teachers have committed to working collaboratively in grade level teams to concentrate on student achievement and analyze and adapt their teaching methods to best meet the needs of their students. This, like ROAR, is a campus-wide effort which requires all staff to work closely together and provide the most effective teaching and learning opportunities for ALL students, no matter their starting point.
Thirdly, I want to share my excitement about our continued focus to build community and enhance and improve communication. As you swing by campus, take note of the amazing mural completed this summer and changes to the kinder play area fence to create a space where parents can wait for their students at the end of the day. Additionally, our Coffee with the Principal events and PTA meetings will have areas of focus where I will share important information about the happenings on campus.
Finally, we will be having monthly Flag Salutes following Coffee with the Principal. ALL parents are welcome to join us on campus for these amazing, community building events.
Again, welcome back Alisal bears; it’s going to be a great year!
